LIP BALMS

Lip balms are cosmetics that combine moisturising and nourishing properties and sometimes also add colour. They contain ingredients, such as shea butter, vitamins, plant oils or hyaluronic acid, which take care of the delicate skin of the lips, keeping them moisturised, soft and supple. They are particularly recommended in autumn and winter.

Why use lip balms?

Lip balms perfectly moisturise chapped lips and provide them with adequate protection. Thanks to the nutrients they contain, they protect the lips from the elements, dry air or UV radiation.
Some lip balms contain delicate pigments that give the lips a subtle, natural colour, enhancing their own beauty.

What ingredients should lipsticks contain?

Lip care needs substances that smooth the epidermis, restore hydration, nourish and regenerate. Good formulas should include natural oils and butters (e.g. coconut, sunflower, Shea butter), vitamins A and E, honey, hyaluronic acid, beeswax and plant-based moisturising ingredients.

Types of lip balms

We can divide lip balms into three main types:

·         Moisturising – they are designed to maintain the correct level of moisture in the epidermis. They contain hyaluronic acid or aloe vera, among others.

·         Regenerating – their role is to restore the proper condition of the epidermis and prevent flaking. They contain, for example, beeswax or natural butters.

·         Protective – they are supposed to protect the skin from harmful external factors, such as wind and frost. They should contain good quality oils, such as coconut oil.
